The purpose of the conferences is to equipped women with the necessary tools to seek available services to provide for their total health and well-being and learn to respect and value themselves so that they are able to impart those values to their children. Five-seven workshops were held which afforded the participants the opportunity to choose two workshops which best relate to their particular area of need and provide answers, encouragement and instructions on how to live a life pleasing to God. The conferences also provide opportunities for fellowship with other participants, be in the midst of praise and worship, and hear the preached Word of God. As new born babies in Christ or as seasoned saints, it is of the utmost importance that we seek God for guidance, wisdom and understanding to make the right decision.
Conferences were held in Pittsburgh, PA in 2010 and 2011 at the Rodman Street Missionary Baptist Church, 6116 Rodman Street (Pittsburgh, PA). The pastor, Rev. Dr. Darryl T. Canady and his staff graciously saw to it that conference needs were met; they exemplify what true ministry is all about, helping others’ visions to come forth. Vendors were available onsite for the attendees to visit and received handouts relating to various topics to aid them in seeking available resources as they become reacclimated to their community and society in general. HeavenGates Ministries is extremely and eternally grateful that God has allowed the mission to come forth; that is meeting the needs of individuals and helping them to be all that they can be. Health screenings were offered as well as informational booths relative to Aids/HIV, Rape, Domestic Violence, Cancer Awareness, Diabetes Education, and other topics relating to individuals from work release centers, halfway houses and shelters, and the church at large.
A clothing bank was also available which allowed individuals to select clothing and/or shoes to assist them to take advantage of the various opportunities (jobs, housing, schooling, etc.) as they reentered and/or became reacquainted with our changing society.
